La Jolla Country Club
La Jolla Country Club is located high above the Village of La Jolla and boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the Village and Pacific Ocean. Fairway homes, grand estates, and condominiums are laid out around a private, par-72 course originally designed in 1926 by William Bell, then completely redesigned in 1983 by Rees Jones. The La Jolla Country Club is characterized for its uneven lies, fast greens, and Kikuyu fairway grass—once considered by Southern Californians to be a weed due to its quick rate of growth, Kikuyu grass is now gaining popularity as a turf species. The clubhouse is rendered in the Monterey Colonial-style and was completely remodeled in 1996. The course and homesites meander through a hidden plateau—in fact, most of the course is not visible from the city streets below. Many homes possess dazzling scenic ocean views.
