George's at the Cove is a fine dining, upscale restaurant in downtown La Jolla 's Village that is well known for its exquisite menu full of delectable flavors and visual appeal.
George's at the Cove has three levels that offer a dining experience unique of its own. The restaurant's fine dining is located on the main floor, inviting diners into a casually elegant atmosphere surrounded by breathtaking views of the scenic Pacific Ocean. Menu items begin with the “first flavors,” followed by the “tasting menu,” and then the “main courses.” The impressive wine list compliments any dining selection, and goes well with the desserts that offer legitimate reasons for indulgence in utter decadence.
Located alongside the magnificent Pacific Ocean, the Ocean Terrace Bistro encompasses all of your senses into this informal dining experience. Outside, with a panoramic view of the coast, you can enjoy the dining options of both lunch and dinner cuisine that is anything but ordinary. Grilled mahi-mahi and prime flat iron steak are a few of the favorites that grace the lunch and dinner menus, followed with dessert options that are nothing less than mouth-watering. The Ocean Terrace dining area also has a complete wine selection available.
The Pacific View Bar is always a favorite with La Jolla residents for a casual dining and social atmosphere. Sitting above the fine dining level, the Pacific View Bar is open for both lunch and dinner, serving the same menu items as the Ocean Terrace Bistro.
George's at the Cove has been recommended and reviewed numerous times by a variety of media outlets, and most recently has been chosen as one of the ‘Top 10 restaurants in the world' by Fodor's for 2006. The restaurant has also received awards and has been recognized by magazines such as GQ Magazine, Food and Wine Magazine, and Gourmet Magazine.

The Village is also home to Karl Strauss Brewery, a local San Diego chain of breweries that serve handcrafted beer full of southern California pride and a menu that compliments any of the brewery's fine selections in ales. The “Master Brewer” himself, Karl Strauss, designed and trains each of the restaurant's brewers on the brewery operations and processes to create the premium and well known ales the restaurant serves. Karl Strauss Brewery serves ales representing the La Jolla and southern California area with names like “Windansea Wheat Hefeweizen” and the “Endless Summer Light,” as well as a long list of their “special release” beers that are offered throughout the year.
Extending beyond their “burgers and sandwiches” menu selection to “steaks and chops,” there is a wide variety of menu options to choose from, and something for everyone's likings. The brewery also features a “brewery favorites” on the menu list, where you know you can't go wrong. The dining is casual and laid back, but there is plenty of energy and liveliness throughout the brewery. Dining options include sitting in the bar area or the restaurant section.
