La Mesa Real Estate

Locally known as “the Jewel of the Hills,” La Mesa, incorporated in 1912, is home to approximately 60,000 residents who enjoy the amenities of the big city, but prefer a small town feel. La Mesa is located east of the College area just outside the city of San Diego. Convenient freeway access allows residents to get to downtown San Diego in a quick 15 minutes.

La Mesa Homes for Sale

Real estate in La Mesa is quite diverse, including affordable condos and townhomes, modest ranch and craftsmen homes, and large, custom multimillion-dollar luxury estates. La Mesa is made up of several small communities: Grossmont, Mount Helix, La Mesa Park, Vista La Mesa, Lake Murray Village, Eastridge Estates, Explorer Ridge Estates, La Mesa Highlands, Calavo Gardens and Rancho San Diego.  Some of the hilltop estates in areas like Mount Helix offer some breathtaking views of the city. Many residents also enjoy the cool ocean breeze coming through the valleys. The town’s commitment to preserving its natural surroundings makes it one of the most desirable East County locations.

There are many recreational activities. In addition to the 14 parks operated by the city, residents enjoy golf, fishing, hiking and traditional sports such as baseball, softball and tennis. Community events include the Outdoor Farmers Market held every Friday afternoon, the Thursday night car show, and the annual Flag Day Parade.

The recent addition of the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center has brought families from all over to attend classes, enjoy the facilities, and benefit from the wonderful amenities. La Mesa Village, set apart by its historic architecture, has boutiques, shops, outdoor cafes, pubs, and restaurants, and is a point of civic pride.
